This stunning butterfly is extirpated in Ontario, Canada. While the species lives somewhere in the world and at one time lived in the wild in Ontario, sadly it no longer exists there. There could be a correlation between the possible declining number of wild lupines (the food source for the larvae) due to habitat loss or degradation and habitat fragmentation.
